As part of the Erasmus+ YoungMinds project, workshops focused on audiovisual creation and mental health awareness were held with students from Rio Caldo Basic School and Terras de Bouro Basic and Secondary School.
The activities took place on 27 May, with the two 9th grade classes from Rio Caldo Basic School, and on 5 June, with students from classes 10A and 11B at Terras de Bouro Basic and Secondary School. In both sessions, participants had the opportunity to explore video as a tool for expression, creativity and reflection on topics related to emotional well-being.

During the workshops, students were introduced to key concepts in audiovisual production, including storytelling, film language, camera shots and angles, image composition, lighting and sound, as well as basic filming and editing techniques. Important issues related to digital ethics, copyright and the responsible use of music, images and multimedia content were also addressed.
In the practical part of the activity, students were challenged to create a short video on the theme of friendship. Working in groups, they planned, filmed and edited their productions, putting into practice the knowledge acquired during the workshops while developing skills such as collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking.

This initiative helped highlight the importance of interpersonal relationships in young people’s well-being, presenting friendship as a key element in the promotion of mental health. Through audiovisual expression, students were able to share positive messages and reflect on the role of peer collaboration in building healthier, more inclusive and participatory school environments.
