YoungMinds behind the screen
This time, the students are the ones holding the camera!
YoungMinds behind the screen brings together the short films created by secondary school students in Croatia, Portugal, Greece and Lithuania. After exploring European cinema and talking openly about mental health in class, they took the next step: they wrote, filmed and edited their own stories.
What came out of it is honest, creative and made by young people for everyone.
It shows how they see friendship, emotions, belonging and wellbeing.

Throughout the project, teachers used films as a starting point to talk about mental health in the classroom.
In the filmmaking workshops, students learned the basics of audiovisual production: storytelling, film language, camera shots and angles, composition, lighting, sound and editing. They also learned about digital ethics and the responsible use of music and images.
Then it was their turn. Working in groups, they planned, shot and edited short films on themes connected to emotional wellbeing, putting collaboration, creativity and critical thinking into practice.
