The national training sessions are aimed at empowering teachers to better address mental health issues in the classroom, following the project’s approach and resources.

The sessions explored a range of topics, including the definition of mental health, strategies for combating stigma, and the use of audiovisual tools, like filmmaking, to help students express emotions and better understand mental health. Teachers participated in hands-on activities, including adapting lesson plans and developing strategies that are tailored to the specific needs of their classrooms.

The final session focused on creating action plans for implementing the lesson plans and establishing clear steps for their integration into school activities.

Teachers also had the opportunity to reflect on the training, assess their learning progress, and identify potential challenges for improvement.

As a result, the educators are now fully equipped to bring mental health topics into their lessons, fostering a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environment for students. The YoungMinds project continues to promote the importance of mental well-being in schools across Portugal.
